Vegas wants new baseball stadium in Cashman redevelopment

November 24, 2008 · Print This Article

Could professional baseball leave Las Vegas?

It’s a real possibility whether a new minor league baseball stadium isn’t built either on Cashman Field’s 51 acres or somewhere else nearby.

The City of Las Vegas is telling all bidders for redevelopment that a new baseball stadium must be built, hoping to attract all

the benefits that a minor league stadium attracts.

But the question is, will the 51s wait around? They’re under contract at Cashman Field until 2010, and the new stadium wouldn’t likely be ready by soon after.

Bids are due in early January 2009.
