Sushi Mon

Tucked away in a shopping plaza off of Maryland Pkwy is the best sushi in Vegas. Sushi Mon is a small restaurant that has a huge menu. They have over 70 types of sushi, including the classics and more innovative rolls. There is also a selection of dishes if you only mildly like sushi. I recommend the fish tataki plate. Three types of rare fish are sliced on a plate: tuna, salmon and cajun albacore (the albacore is the best one). Sushi Mon also has a great appetizer and dessert menu. The calamari is top notch, with only a light breading and some real meat of the squid, not heavily fried breading and some bits of tentacle like most places. Also try the edamame for a healthy start. Try the green tea ice cream for something to soothe your palette after a night of eating all different types of

fish. They also have lots of assorted drinks, including both warm and cold sake.
The best bet is to not eat for the day to have enough room to try all the different kinds of sushi and to truly get your money’s worth. The menu explains everything carefully for you if this is your first time, but go ahead and be daring! They are open for dinner, and it’s great if you want a midnight snack since they are open till 2am. Be careful though, it is a small place so seating goes fast, especially on the weekends. You may have a wait, but once you start eating it’s completely worth it. The staff is friendly and fast. You MUST eat everything that is on your plate, so pace yourself!
